The Giver
This was a book cover redesign for "The Giver" by Lois Lowery. The inspiration for the cover design was the Ishihara color vision tests. The book design features a series of randomized dots which would be used to determine if someone has a color vision deficiency. The book jacket is made of red transparent material that counteracts the red dots.

This cover mimics the Ishihara colorblind tests. It uses a variety of dots which is similar to how the tests work. The jacket is made of plastic binder inserts in order to give it the transparent look that it needs.
Close up with the jacket. As you can see, once the jacket is placed on the book, the dots seem to disappear. This is a play on how someone with color blindness may see things differently than others.
Additional close up of the cover with the jacket. You can see the contrast between the book with and without the jacket. Without the jacket the cover is complex and intricate, but with the jacket it is simplistic and minimal.
